Andrew is the Leader of Trafford Council. A lifelong local resident Andrew grew up in Timperley, lives in Altrincham and has been a Sale councillor since 2011. Prior to becoming Leader of the Council in May 2018, Andrew worked in civil engineering supporting major infrastructure projects.
Active in the local community Andrew has been a school governor in the constituency for more than ten years. He is the Vice-President of a local youth organisation and sits on the Board of a local Mental Health charity. Passionate about our tackling climate change Andrew is the Green City Region Lead for Greater Manchester.
Andrew contested the Altrincham and Sale West constituency at the 2017 General Election, more than halving the Tory majority. He was again selected in early 2018 to be the Labour Party’s candidate for Altrincham and Sale West at the next General Election. In addition to his work on the Green Agenda in Greater Manchester, other areas of policy interest include education, public health, housing and international development.
The current make-up of Trafford Council is 36 Labour, 20 Conservative, 3 Liberal Democrat, 3 Green and 1 Independent with the next set of Council elections set to take place in May 2020.
